On May 8, 2025 the INITIATE project presented a workshop that brought together experts for a roundtable discussion on how business analytics and data science are being used to enhance firms’ competitiveness and sustainability. They also discussed the challenges that companies reportedly face when making the transition to data-driven management practices. The workshop additionally served to present the newly created Business Analytics & Data Science Lab, which originated from the efforts to empower higher education institutions to develop R&I through institution transformation. The workshop guests included Sérgio Moro (ISTAR-Iscte), Carlos Coutinho (Caixa Mágica Software/Iscte), Adelaide Leitão (KPMG/Iscte), and Miguel Gião (SAP Portugal). Sofia Portela (Iscte) moderated the discussion.
