PROJECT

Carbon Footprint Analytics Tool for Supporting Equipment Purchasing Decisions

In a context where sustainability has ceased to be an option and has become a strategic and ethical requirement, it becomes important to assess and prioritize essential materials based on their respective carbon footprint. The project aims to:

  • Develop a solution that enables the automated extraction of information from Environmental Product Declaration and other relevant information from product’s Life Cycle Assessment for determining the carbon footprint of each product potentially acquired.
  • Develop a dashboard to visualise relevant information for evaluating each product in terms of its carbon footprint.

  • Implement an “Alert System” to notify the operational manager of service parameters that require attention or corrective action.

Understanding the Rise in Electricity Consumption

Electricity consumption reached a historic high in the first quarter of 2026. Despite the usual adjustments for temperature, calendar effects, and solar radiation, a significant share of the increase in electricity consumption remains unexplained. The project aims to:

  • Identify the factors with the greatest influence on the evolution of electricity consumption.
  • Characterise the current and potential impact of each factor.
  • Segment customers based on electricity load profiles.

PROJECT

SME shortage skills

Having a workforce with the right skills contributes to sustainable growth, leads to innovation and improves companies’ competitiveness. However, many companies face difficulties in filling job vacancies because they cannot find enough applicants with the required skills, qualifications, or experience at current wages. The project aims to develop an interactive visualisation tool to explore:

  • How serious is the skills shortage and who is most affected?
  • Why it is hard to hire and how long does it take?
  • What does the skills shortage actually cost businesses?
  • How are companies responding and what support do they need?
